Good books on the Windows API

Hey, can someone point me to some books (or other resources) on the Windows API? I feel the need to create custom exploitation tools for windows (ex. a mimikatz like program with uac bypass) but I’m not really familiarized with the API. I have already read some of Gerg Hoglund’s book, “Rootkits: Subverting the Windows Kernel”, and it was great, I just don’t feel prepared to write something like that. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
