Just want to share a good moment with you all: I just took OTW's CWA exam without any prior studying, and I passed with a total of 85%!
That's great to hear! How hard is the test?
It isn't too hard, but you shouldn't underestimate it.
Congrats Phoenix750! I knew you could do it!
Remember to put the CWA after your name now!
You sure weren't mild on Snort I must say. Your love for that tool is very clear in the exam.
I believe that every cyber security engineer should know it. It is also on the CEH, but without as much detail.
I'm glad you didn't find it that difficult, but it is much more difficult than the CEH.
Snort! I think its very important, however my skills lack severly in the IDS department. You, @Occupytheweb or anybody else that knows about it should write a how-to on snort on this site!
@Phoenix750 Congrats! Nice to hear you passed the CWA as well
@Occupytheweb was the CWA really more difficult than the CEH? I'm planning to try the CEH in a few months, but if it's way easier I probably just should try to do the exam.
@pry0cc The problem is that I know pretty much nothing about Snort. It is what I struggled with the most on the CWA exam.
@zSec how high was your score if I may ask?
There's a NB article on it. Depending on if someone else writes one in the next week, I could make a tutorial for installing and running snort.
Yes definietly! I hate the WHT layout. It would be great to see new infomation on this site.
Also we ran into some errors with the installation. Maybe Friday I'll start writing it while using a fresh VB and the latest version of Kali.
I wrote three or four Snort tutorial on Null Byte.
Currently studying for CEH, can confirm it's stupidly easy if you read a lot of the articles from NB, here, and just general security articles. My only concern with CWA is that it won't be recognized by employers, CEH already is skirting the line on recognized certifications.
You should repost them here
Quite frankly, most people in the pentesting/cyber security industry laugh at the CEH.
@Phoenix750 my score was 86%, also without prior studying. And my weak point was Snort as well.
Precisely why it's skirting the line on recognized certifications.
The only reason one would get it is if they didn't already have a job in InfoSec or their employer is paying for it.
No money out of my wallet, so might as well.
@Occupytheweb Yes, but most of the employer are praising this certificate. Don't know why but it has such a high reputation these days.
