What do you go by / What are your common aliases?
greetings all! i am Retr0/Retr1/Retr0Static/Retr1Static. why so many aliases? well originally i joined the irc as "Retr0" but i found that it was too familiar with the main character of watch dogs 2 (that game is the only good reason to have windows), so i changed it to "Retr1" for a change. when registering to github to register here, i found "Retr1" was already taken, so i made it "Retr1Static" on both github, this site, and the irc.
What are your skill sets?
i'm really new to hacking (only been in it for 4 months) so i have no real skillset. maybe some python programming and basic concepts of pen-testing, but that is about it i'd say. but due to my background as a casual gamer, i do know a thing or two about computers.
What are you interested in?
All kinds of things. I am trying to program but the problem is that i HATE reading, i learn by practice. in my experience though it looks like you need to read a bit for some advanced languages like C, so right now i'm trying to stick with python for now until i am good at it. i am also trying to get more familiar with the "deeper" level of the computer. maybe some help on that?
Are you an Info. Sec./Comp. Sci. professional or just a hobbyist?
totally a hobbyist, i just can't see myself doing infosec for a living, never.
What do you hope to gain from this community?
more knowledge on hacking in general and just a cool place to crash & discuss things.
What do you hope to contribute to this community?
i have no idea... maybe some scripts for recon? idk.
i am also a "GSD" (getting shit done) type of guy, so expect me to write some simple but effective tutorials on osint gathering, recon, etc. during my time here. not the fancy stuff of reversing applications that is already here because i am not the type of guy who could spend so much time doing that (huge respect to those who do, though).
How'd you find us?
I googled "programming for wannabes" (literally) and was led to @0x00pf his articles.
other things about me?
well i live in the netherlands/belgium (i move between the two). and something funny: i have a huge phobia of artificial intelligence. not the type of AI that you see in videogames, but the thought alone of something artificial surpassing human intelligence (or even bots that learn by themselves) makes me reaaalllyyyy uncomfortable! so no, i do not like cleverbot
